Phosphine synthesis
WebOct 22, 2024 · Phosphine is made industrially from white phosphorus by hydrolysis with an alkali metal hydroxide or an aqueous acid–catalyzed disproportionation reaction. The industrial product is normally shipped as liquefied gas. WebTriphenylphosphine (IUPAC name: triphenylphosphane) is a common organophosphorus compound with the formula P (C 6 H 5) 3 and often abbreviated to P Ph 3 or Ph 3 P. It is widely used in the synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds. PPh 3 exists as relatively air stable, colorless crystals at room temperature.
